Abundance for Every Good Work
2 Corinthians 9:6-8:
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also
reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly, or of necessity; for
God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always
having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work: (NKJV)
GOD DESIRES HIS PEOPLE TO PROSPER
With all the negative publicity today on ministers who preach prosperity, I want you to know the subject is
still scriptural. Perhaps a few have gone to extreme and live excessive lifestyles, but I am not looking to judge
them. However, I do want to point out that in order for excess to occur, there must be the existence of a truth
or principle from which the excess originated. You cannot make excess from nothing.
The Old and New Testaments teach the truth of God’s desire for His people to prosper. If we will put
God, His righteousness, and His wisdom first, He will see to it the necessities and desires of life come to
us. When Solomon sought only for wisdom to oversee God’s people, God granted him the destruction of
his enemies, long life, and wealth in addition to wisdom. Things have not changed for us. Third John 2
tells us God wants us to prosper and be in health as our soul prospers and our soul prospers as we learn
more of God’s will and Word.
FOUNDATIONS FOR FINANCIAL BLESSING
There are certain foundations we must lay before financial blessings can come to us. First, we must
understand that money is like seed in God’s sight. In the ancient world, seed was used as a medium of
exchange like currency is used today, and every farmer knew there was a hundredfold potential in each grain.
The New Testament teaches the same principle. Paul plainly stated in our opening verse a principle we all
understand: If we plant little we will harvest little. If we plant much, we will harvest much.
A second foundational truth is there must be heart preparation before the planting of the seed. A farmer
determines in his heart to plant and expects to see the harvest. Paul used this as an analogy for giving an
offering to the Lord. We must first “determine” in our heart we will give and then expect to see a harvest.
Assurance that God keeps His Word is important. Faith is needed; trusting God that His Word is true.
Although God is able to make all grace abound toward us, we must believe it. God’s grace is transferred tous by simple faith. Whether salvation, the Holy Spirit, answered prayer or financial returns on our giving,
we must realize “by grace” we are saved, filled, healed, and financially blessed. Purposing is necessary
before anything comes to us from the Lord, especially crops of finances.
God’s ultimate goal is found in verse eight. God wants us to have all sufficiency in every area of life so we
can give into every good work. The ultimate result of prosperity is not to line our pockets, buy cars or nice
homes, although those things are fine. God’s ultimate purpose for money is to return it back in the form of
seed for the needs of people. God wants us to have enough money to pay our bills, buy the nice things of
life, and give into every good work of the ministry. There are many excellent ministers today and my desire
is like God’s: I want to give generous offerings into every ministry I desire to give to.
I love it when people give into Bob Yandian Ministries and consider it to be good ground. I want to be
known as one of the good works God prospers people to give into. My love for teaching the Word of God
is shared by my radio partners and listeners. As a team, we see believers mature and grow in the things
of God. We work together to fulfill the part of the great commission that tells us to make disciples of all
nations. Thank you for making my ministry part of the good ground into which you sow your finances. I
believe with you for God’s grace to abound to you in abundance.
