“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” II Peter 1:3
The truth of this simple verse has the potential to change your entire life. The revelation given here is simple yet profound. God has already given us everything we need for both our natural and spiritual life. He will not make anything else. His divine power looked through the ages and saw everything we would need for life (natural life) and godliness (spiritual life) and made it ahead of time. When you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, a storehouse was opened with all you would ever need. It is almost blasphemous to think we can face a need that will ever take God by surprise.
Our faith does not move God to supply; He has already supplied. Our study, prayer, faith and trust in God moves us into a better position to receive what God has already given. God is never the problem; we are!
When the thief who was crucified beside Jesus received salvation, Jesus told him they would be together in Paradise that very day. Adam and Eve were removed from Paradise, but through Jesus, we are brought back into the garden. The same angels that kept Adam and Eve out of the garden have welcomed us back. God placed Adam and Eve in Eden after He finished the Garden. Everything was created then the man and woman were placed in the midst of God’s creation. God did not create a tree when the couple had a need. The trees were already made for every need they could have.
God has done the same for us with our Paradise, the Garden of the New Birth. We were placed into this new life after God created everything we would ever need. We just need to wander through and find out what God has provided. Every tree is good. Because Adam and Eve sinned, they could not eat of the Tree of Life. Because we are born again, we are invited to eat of it. The Tree of Life is the Word of God (Proverbs 3:18). Everything that pertains to life and godliness is made available to us through His Word, “through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue,” through the “exceeding great and precious promises” (II Peter 1:3,4).
This should change your prayer and faith life. You do not need to beg a God who has already created and given all things. You can rest assured that God’s love is so great you cannot possibly have a need that He has overlooked. Trust in the love of your heavenly Father.
